Established in 2014 with the support of the British Columbia Arts Council, The Ron Huebner Legacy Archives are focused on the fostering of an understanding, appreciation and recognition of Huebner’s artistic legacy and historical contribution to Canadian arts and beyond.
Collectively, the archival compilation of Ron Huebner’s surviving works and related collateral representing Huebner’s art-making practice - chronicle the life, artistic practice and struggle for survival of a Canadian artist working in an alternative arts arena - while living working and actively exhibiting in Canada and Europe from the late seventies to 2004.
The Archives are engaged in the ongoing management, maintenance and restoration of works comprising of Huebner’s artistic oeuvre. This also involves the sorting, cataloguing, documentation and archiving of Huebner’s extensive volume of associated collateral that represent the Ron Huebner Fonds: images and transparencies, audio and videos tapes, copious drawings and sketchbooks, work in print, exhibition related materials, project notes and correspondence including various ephemera.
The Archives have been catalogued into six master series of files directly relating to the historical periods and geographic locations of Huebner’s art-making practice:
• The Formative Years: 1979 - 1983
• Early Dutch Period: 1984 - 1986
• Canada: 1986 - 1990
• Canada / Netherlands: 1990 - 1995
• Later Dutch Period: 1995 - 2000
• The Final Years: 2000 - 2004
• Post 2004

To date the Archives: have created an extensive website of cataloged and documented works. ronhuebner.org
In addition, works that had been in Amsterdam storage for ten years after Huebner’s accidental death, have since been crated and brought to Canada, and are now included in the surviving archived legacy oeuvre. Select works from Canada and Europe were in included in the Archive-curated retrospective exhibition Enduring Spirit
